    CAUTION:
If vehicle is equipped with SRS (Air Bag), disable the system.

    1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
    2. It will be more convenient if the tilt/reach clamp handle is loosened, allowing the column to move upward. Allow the handle to remain in the released position.

    3. Remove steering column lower cover to column and upper cover attaching screws.
    4. Unclip the two sections, pulling forward on the upper and pushing back on the lower , to release the two retainer clips in the upper cover . Pull out the lower cover, allowing it to drop down.
    5. Pull out the right hand side of the cover to clear the ignition switch and the ignition key reader.6. Pull the cover down, then pull the ignition switch illumination lamp from the housing.
    7. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the ignition code reader, then carefully pull the reader from the ignition switch assembly.

    8. Insert ignition key into barrel and turn to the 'ON' position. 9. Using a 2.5 mm diameter pin (an Allen key is suitable) inserted into locking pin hole, depress the spring loaded barrel locking latch to release lock cylinder. Remove pin and pull barrel from lock housing.
    REINSTALL

    IMPORTANT:
If vehicle is equipped with SRS (Air Bag), enable the system.

    1. Install key into ignition barrel, and turn key to the ignition 'ON' position.
    2. Insert barrel into lock housing until latch locks into the housing.
    3. After aligning the ignition key reader with its index on the switch body, press the reader into place. Check that the ignition switch to reader alignment is correct, by attempting to rotate the reader. Correct indexing will prevent the key reader from rotating.
    4. Connect the wiring harness connector to the ignition key reader.

    5. Reinstall steering column lower cover, engage the clips with the upper cover, then insert the attaching screws.
    6. Reconnect battery earth lead.
    7. Check ignition switch lock and barrel operations.
