I have looked through the gregorys manual, there isnt any info on how to remove the security switch from the passenger side door hinge area. How do I go about removing it and replacing it with a 4 connection switch I bought from jaycar? I cant find a way of removing the lock barrel I cant get to it through the guard or near the ecu. Also can someone explain to me how the wires work? The reason im replacing mine is ive worked out the switch has gone dodgy
Some VP's had a BCM,and some didnt,it depends on what your car has.The cars without a BCM have the following- A Black/orange wire from the anti theft override switch to the anti theft module. A Pink/black wire from the anti theft override switch to the anti theft module. An Orange wire that goes from the anti theft override switch to fuse 21.This wire also goes to the anti theft module, but it changes colour to Pink/black before the module. Then theres another Pink/black wire that goes from the anti theft override switch to the anti theft module. This wire also goes to the ECU (ECU terminal A6)as well, but changes to a Pink wire before getting to the ECU. The cars fitted with BCM have the following- A Black/orange wire from the anti theft override switch to the BCM. A Pink/black wire going from the anti theft override switch to the BCM,but this wire also goes to the ECU (ECU terminal A6),but changes to a Pink wire before getting to the ECU. Another pink /Black wire goes from the anti theft override switch,to the BCM,this wire also goes to fuse number 21,also to the EFI relay,it also goes to the instrument cluster, and to the diagnostics connector, but before it gets to the diagnostics connector, the wire changes to a Pink wire. Theres a Black wire that goes from the anti theft override switch to earth..
Thanks for that, anyone know how to remove the security switch? Its in the door not the glovebox like the VNs...
Drill the heads off the two rivets holding the switch into the door jam and punch the mandrels through. Likewise, drill the heads off rivets holding the anti-theft shield above the ECM, under the kick panel. The rivets are hard (unless they've been replaced w' something else) so you'll probably want a good quality drill bit and some patience.
