i have been reading the 'how-to' section on removing the front struts of my commodore.

i have all the tools necessary for the job EXCEPT for a rattle gun.

it says i need the rattle gun to remove a nut at the top of the strut n such.

can this be removed by the help of a 12" adjustable spanner instead of a rattle gun?

i wouldn't try an adjustable, too much change of rounding the nut off etc. use the correct size socket

DO not use an adjustable spanner you will wreck the nuts,
get yourself a socket and breaker bar, if you need more leverage get a long piece of steel pipe and place the braeker bar handle in one end and push the other end

danng ive been reading more about tightening back the bolts and it says, i need a torque wrench to correctly tighten the some bolts.

torque wreches are not cheap, is there a possibilty that i could tighten the nuts using a normal socket wrench and/or breaker bar and guess how tight each nut should be?

What torque does it say? Something around 80NM is very tight. Actually dont trust me on that. Surely theres a torque wrench pro that can correct me there.

you could move 80nm easy, we have to tighten wheel nuts on falcons at tafe that requires 150nm

hehe the alcos at work are tightened at 500 to 600 fts per pound
torque wrenches are quite cheap, u can pick up an alright one at an auto shop for around 50 to 70 dollars
