Hi jhvh. No you don't have to move the steering rack although it would make access to a few of the sump bolts easier. As long as you have a small socket set (1/4" drive) with a universal joint adaptor you can undo and replace all the bolts without too much drama except the three along the front in behind the balancer which I accessed using a ratchet ring spanner. You do need to remove the wiring harness for the starter motor which is mounted to the front of the sump with two bolts that are in a mongrel of a position.
