    Done one in a VS!

    Hi,

My son had his window smashed and his GPS stolen a couple of years ago.

I bought a new window from a wreckers, and swapped it over for him while he slept. Weather was wet, and he could not go without the car, so it had to be done straight away.

I watched as the window was removed at the wreckers. The whole job still took me about three hours.

I am going from memory, but the key is that you have to undo the bolts holding the window wind mechanism to the door. It then becomes possible to slide the glass out of the frame.

It is a very fiddly job, that requires much patience. Personally, I would rather pay to have the new window tinted than go through the change. You might be better at it than me, and it might be easier in daylight (versus my 1:00 - 4:00 am darkness), but it would be a small cost in comparison to tint rather than replace.
