I throught I would produce this write up as previous research on this site has revealed losts of ripping on the gear stick until it comes free. This is painfully slow, difficult and unnecessary.
1st off remove the dash surround thingy buy removing the 1 screw beneath the radio and unclip it all and get it righ out of the road.
2nd remove the gear boot and cut the cable tie off around the knob, slide it back lower down the shaft.
now get a screwdriver and pry around the base of the gear knob and you will see underneath the black rubber, 4 blue clips, pry them out of the way.
Now just simply lift the knob up and WOLLAH!
I had my gear knob off in under 10 minutes. I will detail pictures when i get the time.
