Got a vp calais with a broken wiper switch. It all works but it pops out. I read somewhere that you can't fix it, but I can't find any more information on it. Has anyone ever fixed it before? It's rare and expensive and required for rwc!

These r not really that rare or expenive u can get any type of switch aslong as its the same colour as urs. but even then u dont need 2 aslong as u use the internal parts.

Ok take the bottom PCB board off its housing its a small board about (40mm x 20mm), unclip it, the most important thing u have 2 b carful here is not 2 bend the metal tab that touches the metal rod that the switch knob turns on. (wen that touches the metal rod the squirters work.

Once thats off theres a circlip on the back of that rod, take that off then the metal rod should just slide out with the knob. Now theres a small round platsic bit (almost the size of a 5c piece) that screws onto the other end of the rod, unscrew that then the knob and that plastic bit should just fall out of the prongs thats used 2 keep the knob in place. u may not even need 2 unscrew it the platic round bit can pop out of those prongs on its own, then reverse procedure.

If that plastic round bit has broken away from its own thread which is usually the case u can use some (i think its metric mayb imperial not sure) thread with a small screw head on it and use that 2 attach the plastic bit so the knob clips back on.

hope that makes sense sounds better in my head hahaha.

Is it broken? If it isnt, and has just popped out, you can glue back into place. It popped out in my VN, and I was able to glue it back in with no problems. Make sure you use the super glue designed for plastics (should have 2 parts, a preparing marker, and the glue). Place a line of glue on the outside edge of the switch and just push it into position on the cluster. Wait a couple of minutes and if all goes well, it should work fine. Hope this helps, as yeah the switches are f**king expensive as to get, especially for a calais
