Hi Folks, my VP has VT front brakes onboard and I am investigating dragging pads on the driver's side. I don't have a VT manual but my VP Gregorys says that if a slider pin is removed (say when replacing pads) the pin must be replaced because of the special thread sealer used on the threads. Does this hold for the VT? Does anyone do it?

That sounds like a very expensive way to replace the thread locker on them.
Dragging brakes could mean that slide pin woor or brake piston is worn or dry and needs attention

From the VT manual pad replacement...
Using a suitable size open end spanner to hold the lower guide pin, remove and discard the guide pin bolt.
NOTE:
Old bolts must not be re-used as they are vital safety components which have a micro-encapsulated adhesive on the bolt thread.
6. Swing caliper assembly up from the anchor plate and disc and support caliper with a wire
hook.
7. Remove worn pads from anchor plate.
8. Inspect condition of brake disc.
9. Check guide pins for free movement in anchor plate. If there is restriction of movement, replace guide pins and/or guide pin boots.

I use a blue loctite type threadlocker.

Thanks ltdslip, Do you discard the slider BOLTS? Or do you re-use them with the loctite?

I've always re-used the bolts with Loctite and had no issues.

I reuse the bolts with a dab of blue loctite, it locks but can be disassembled.
The red loctite is for a more permanent situation.

I used it once 12 or so years ago. Never again. I had to remove, disassemble and clean everything back up, as it caused the brakes to groan like a bastard. Loctite got into everything. The dry gear on the bolts is different. The liquid gear was what i used and have never used it since. Like Stick3, I don't think its a necessity, but that's just my opinion.
