replacing battery on a vx berlina,computer questions

    this is for my next door neighbour.he has a vx berlina & when he replaced the battery the other day all his presets,fuel consumption,trip distances etc where all wiped.everything except his odometer of'course.he also said if he sets his trip computer it wipes all his other info.is this normal?i had to disconnect the battery in my vy berlina the other day & didnt need to reset anything or is this only on vy or later models that you can do this?

    It depends on the time you have the battery disconnected. Sometimes there is enough residual power left in the system to keep the memory. Maybe there is a memory in the VY ECU, I don't know, but usually disconnecting the battery will reset the ECU and you lose all the trip computer info.
