More money than the cost of trading-in on an LS3 car ...

Why do you want to do a conversion exactly? Is your engine buggered?

Can't say I have any experience with this conversion but if your wanting more power you can do a heck of a lot to your current engine without going to the trouble and expense of doing an engine conversion

More cars than I've got space to park!
Totally agree with vr304, if you spend the same money on your current engine you'll end up with much more grunt than a stock LS3!

I'm assuming you have done it before?
No, but I've done swaps before ... and if you look at current used prices, you're better-off either trading into one or modding your L77.
Also don't forget the hit in resale a car takes when you do something like this; few see value in the better engine, most are just suspicious over how you broke the old one. :)

So cams etc is best way to go? Reason I'm asking these questions is because once a engine hits 200,000km it's getting worn out. Just want to keep my current car as long as possible. Don't see myself ever buying another commodore or Holden for that matter!

Engine isn't necessarily gonna be worn out at 200,000 ks but later on down the track you always have the option of rebuilding your engine as for cam etc for power upgrades, what have you done to it at the moment? If its stock than an otr, extractors, hi flow cats and 2.5 inch or 3 inch cat back exhaust with a tune will liven it up nicely then after that cam,supercharger/turbo, stroker kits etc etc depends on how much money you have or are willing to throw at it
