WH 2002 SuperCharged Statesman
Hello Audiophiles,

Hoping to draw on someones experience. My 2002 WH has the standard Eurovox system. The stacker is starting to fail (not interested in ebay or wreckers for spares) .

I would like a large head unit to replace the original that does not look out of place or bodgied up to make it fit.

I am not prepared to go without the steering wheel controls.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer and/or unit that can work in with these steering controls ?

Also, I am prepared to lose the antenna control but wouldn't it be nice if I didn't have to.

7 years on somebody must have come across this or have done a workaround ....

Many thanks,
Steve.

Havent done a WH statesman for a while but i can say you will be able to keep the standard steering wheel controls with almost any head-unit by purchasing a steering wheel interface kit, or CAT.

I would also think retaining the factory antenna control would be possible also.

StatoSteve, i havn't found anything yet, which is why i'm trying to develop my own system to do it for Sony head units... and actually, any unit which can be controlled by a wired connection (Sony's can from their own "Commander" which is basically an addition to a normal stalk).

Current problems with it:
Missing a few right parts (need more of the CORRECT type of transistors [my fault])
Missing the time to really do anything at the moment!

I've changed the design about 5 times since i first thought of it! LOL And i think i've gone back to my second design now. Shouldn't be expensive at all too, i'm aiming for a maximum of $50!

The CAT 10 works fine on just about every car I've come across, except C Class Mercs ... grrr
Why bother trying to make one ?

1. The CAT 10 is usually setup with an infrared diode which has to be placed in the vehicle and aimed at the headunit.
2. The $100-150 price tag is too expensive for what it actually is!
