Hey guys,

Decided to wash my VX and this happened...

Guessing it was a dodgy respray done by a previous smash repairer.

Anyway, want to fix this myself with aerosol cans.

What would be the process to get the best results.

Thanks

apologies for posting a outside link but to a novice the video's & steps will help lots & has good pointers & actually makes it look easy & a job for the job looking at is a good starting point to give an idea without paying professionals price tags to do a basic thing.

No worries. That's what I thought when I looked at the pic of your car. So close to the same area & same sort of repair.. Good luck with it & hope it turns out to be a easy fix for you.

So here are the results from last night's respray effort.

Happy with the overall result except for some overspray in the left side... any ideas on how to fix it? Am I starting again :(

Still feels really sticky so leaving it a while before I compound & polish.

Came out pretty good mate, well done. Have you compound polished it yet? I painted a HQ ute in a metallic acrylic a few years back and found it to be a really satisfying experience, even if polishing was hard work. One other thing, if you used acrylic over enamel you might run into problems with shrinkage but hopefully it's ok.

You'll need to feather it out and hit that black spot with some grey plastic primer/filler
Then get your paint code and a spray can mixed up.
Supercheap acrylic Colorspec paint is cheap and effective.
They also have Diamond 2K clear in a spray can which is compatible with their acrylic basecoats

Tip tho.. unless you know the history of a car and if it has been re-sprayed or not, NEVER wash with high preasure
