Can't believe this is still an issue. The VE had reverse guidelines. Wouldn't care too much if they weren't there though.

I have had the update successfully applied to a June 2013 and July 2014 build at two different dealers. For an SV6, that about covers the only difference between the MY14 and MY15, and most of the MY16 as well. Oh, except for a "recalibration" of the electric power steering!

Something I read about the VF2 FE3 inferred that the steering "recalibration" wasn't applied to the Redline for the 2015 VF ... is that correct?
A drive up the Hunter Valley & back today in our 2014 Redline has me thinking that a more supple FE3 could be a really good thing.

I had to take my car back twice to do the update. The first time when I was getting it serviced the workshop web access was unavailable so took it back later to complete it.

The latest software upgrade has the reverse lines included. To have it upgraded under warranty and for free there needs to be an issue with the current system. My mylink system had a couple of issues of freezing when a call came though from my phone and issues with bluetooth connecting automatically every time. Besides the reverse lines i have not noticed any other difference although Bluetooth seems to be more reliable with the upgrade. It takes up to 4hrs to upgrade but mine took about 2hrs.

How to do it? You take the car to a dealership. It's a 2 part update - one part is via USB, the other is module programming via an MDI (GM scantool).

I had this exact same problem with Zupps Aspley when I requested the software update in Jun. I emailed them the letter from RoganJosh's post and they still came back with the same lame excuse. I ended up calling Eagers in Windsor and they booked me in the same week to have it done under warranty. This was back in August, so if you want it done, I would call them and say you are having bluetooth issues with your iPhone 5 dropping out all the time.

Correct, bit of draining process. I've done 2 or 3 updates over the past two weeks, and each one has taken just over an hour to complete.
As mentioned previously though, you have to pay for the update, unless you have complaints, then it'll be updated at no cost to you.

This is true, it's not a straightforward process, can take up to a couple of hours.

Repeat after me: "My iphone 5 keeps dropping out of the bluetooth and I have to re-pair it". Bam, instantly covered by warranty. If the dealer doesn't want a bar of it refer them to the techline fix that has this as one of the complaints requiring a MyLink update.

The main reason to ensure you have this upgrade is so you can put the car in reverse & swing the wheel back & forth while you watch the screen & seeyou car wagging it's tail.

Be awesome if you could have a switch to override the 'reverse' only camera function and then watch the rear cam when your 'wagging' from side to side at other times...lol

I tried the "IPhone 5 thing" last week at my local dealer when I dropped my car off for a service, the answer I got was "sorry but if the car didn't have it from new, you can't get the reverse lines" I couldn't be bothered getting into a debate about it as I was in a hurry, but I'm baffled as to why they have to BS about it.

^ They don't want to spend 2-4 hours for which Holden probably compensates them an hpur's work.

Poor customer service. Of course they can do the update, take it somewhere else next time. I've got into the habit now of emailing the dealer before for some issues. Once they commit in writing to fix something while not to guarantee it, you can put the pressure on if necessary.

Why are you asking about reverse lines? If you want the update just because of a new feature, then no it's not warranty as it's a "product enhancement" and not a "manufacturing defect". Now they're on to you trying to BS them about getting something for free. Try another dealer, don't say anything about reverse lines, and tell them you heard about a software update for the mylink that should help with your iphone not working correctly with the unit.

If I take my laptop in for warranty because it "stopped working" it will make my chances of a repair much better as opposed to me going in and asking about whether or not water damage is covered, then taking my laptop in because it "stopped working on its own, I swear".

I am intrigued how a software update can take an hour, let alone three or four. Surely the file is downloaded once by the dealer and then deployed as many times as required?

Yeah I'm somewhat intrigued too; it must be a ridiculously slow interface between their servicey/scanney-tool thingummy & the car, or the process is munted & needs too much manual intervention along the way.

The first part is several gb in size which needs to be copied from USB and unpacked/installed by the radio. These things aren't multi-core performance PC's. Then it needs to be updated by SPS (service programming system) and have new base software installed.

It's a process that occasionally does hang/go bad requiring the whole process to be done again. In a good run it can be done in about 40 mins but if it goes to **** it can take a few hours (if it hangs during programming it needs to be disconnected from battery to reset, then the whole process done again).
