I want to increase the brightness of the reverse globes.

I put highter watt globes in the VS which was great and they don`t get hot for time used.

I use LED. Problem sorted. Much safer as well because using high wattage incandescent globes off thin gauge wiring could overhear the wire and result in having not much fun.

I have LED reverse bulbs in 3 cars.

Just get a pair of BA15S LED globes Pete, you'll see a dramatic improvement.

LEDs are ok but they don't like vibration and eventually start flickering, even the expensive ones don't last I've found. And at $35ea it's an expensive exercise to replace them every 18 - 24 months. But light output is fair bit better on the VS with LEDs.
