Hi all.

Ive spent a fortune on BMWs of all kinds new n old and ive had enough so ive decided to go for a good ol Aussie Holden....im unsure what im going to buy but looking at the commodore or a statesman and i just have a simple question to ask.

when traveling 110km what does a holden V8 engine rev at? my last car (BMW) use to rev at 3200rpm at 110 and it was LOUD. I travel on highways a lot so its not really practical. Im a fan of the older holdens (1999-2003) but they are all 4 speeds like my crappy beemer and i dont really wanna buy a new holden i dont want just for more gears.

so feel free to post what car you have engine size and revs at 110km per hour (only if you have a 4speed) :)

p.s. im not really car smart so excuse my ignorance

depends on the diff ratio
most of the Commodores you refer to have a 3.08:1 ratio, which means they'll sit on about 1800-1900rpm at 100kph, about 2000rpm at 110kph. Both the 4 spd auto and 5 spd manual have a 0.7:1 top gear ratio, so they both sit at the same rpm in top.
