also, slowly working on putting black plastics through the car & planning to deaden the roof in the next week or so - can’t wait to have rooflining back in.

In other news, interior is in bits & ive been fitting black rooflining bits. I’m tidying up the wiring for my dash camera and such.

will be deadening the roof cavity once the next box arrives from Lowe Fabrications.
Yeah, but how good does it look!
Bet the officer authorising the fine said, “That’s a nice ride”

VY/VZ Calais rooflining/roof plastics all done. In my normal fashion I had to OCD all the little bits involved.

Wrapped the rooflining loom in split tube to make it super tidy (because no1 will ever see it again)

Then deadened the roof panels to stiffen it up.

& new rooflining in, all new LEDS across the sunglass holder and courtesy lights. Only thing left to do it replace the front belts and chuck the black trim panel instead of the putrid cream one.

Been a long while, a good mate of mine/my mechanic has had my car since July I believe - so it’s been a while since I’ve had a good drive, thankfully this time it was needed to get him through after his car gave up the ghost.

he’s been repaying the favour by doing a bunch of jobs on the car over the past month on his days off.

what we’ve changed:
- new shocks, strut tops & we did upgraded the front bump stops too
- new door strikers (front/rear)
- new body rubbers for the front (between the door & body)
- new heater tap + repaint that rail as leaking coolant destroyed the paint… so to avoid rust it all came out and got a good birthday.
- new console going in (S2 black plastics with smokers pack) so we’re wiring up a charger port into it
- vy handbrake assembly going in

I’m sure there’s some more some more stuff but yeah I’ve given him a ton of parts

Also been working with buildninja.com.au to address a huge pain point/ocd annoyance with all VT-VZ including my own…

These stupid things - basically they explode if you look at them sideways & don’t exist as a spare part from Holden anymore (searched AUS/US & all rhe european countries that had Opels of the same body etc..)

so I sourced a whole seatbelt with one of these trims intact, cut out some pieces of my old pillar trims off to Gary to work his magic in CAD.

within a week, this is where we are up to… all that’s left to do is create a slit of sorts to fit the belt through! Super keen.

hopefully these will help others out once it’s finalised.

That's brilliant, he'd have a tonne of business making those, plus other plastics for the 90s and 20s cars.

Miss updates on your beast.

Yeah I’m hoping it helps others that deal with this BS.

I miss driving this thing, still accumulating aircon & heater bits for when we swap over the dash to S2 blackness.

unfortunately it’s been sitting in the sun at his place (normally garaged at home) so I saw some clear failure which breaks my heart

So I finally got my car back! Several months later it’s finally back - a bunch of new parts installed the car feels great. unfortunately the clear coat in some spots has perished but it is what it is for the moment.

spent an hour here and there detailing parts of the car to try and get it back to how I like it. Leather moisturiser, wheels scrubbed & all interior plastics cleaned up nicely - paint / body is going to really need a deep clean which I’m putting off atm.

also, finally got the rear seat belt escutcheon sanded down/smoothed out & fitted the other day - fit like a dream, Gary from Build Ninja absolutely killed it & is now selling them on his site (https://buildninja.com.au/product/vt-z-rear-seat-belt-escutcheon/)
