Got a bit of a problem, I have a Blue 253 V8 in a VH (83') when you first got to take off the car seams to stutter before taking off and is a bit hesitant to kick back the gears. I have done new plugs, leads, vacum hoeses, fuel filter and checked lines and all are ok.

I am thinking it could be a flat spot in the carby, no expert here but this is why I am hunting for some advice on the issue.

P.S. Put some carby cleaner through to see if that made any difference, no good unfortunally.

Thanks

have you checked the timing?
hesitation off idle is a common fault if the timing is out
also
have you made sure there are no vacuum
leaks between the inlet manifold and heads?
also
have you got the air preheat mechanism working?
will be a bugger when cold if not!
now with those outta the road
have you checked the accelerator pump shot on the carb?
easy..
when engine not running, quickly open throttle and look down primaries venturi and you should see petrol shoot out
a stuffed or incorrectly set accelerator pump mechanism
.. is the most common problem with a flat spot on the Quaddy (on any engine)
It is an easy fix for a carby place.
Has anyone had the carby apart?
if not..maybe time for a rebuild or changeover

my 2c
cheers

Haven't checked the time as yet, No vacum leaks, sealed and tested :) and yes the air preheat actually works and makes those cold morning starts alittle more easier.

The Accelerator pump is working ok and the carb shoot the petrol out fast and clean. I am thinking then timing maybe?
