Yeah... our rotti learnt as a pup (45kg pup but anyway) to not get aggresive when I was doing whatever to his food.

After which he could be eating and I could command him to stop... though this was never a good idea as I would later have to mop up a huge drool puddle.

And agree, the dogs owner could probably take the food away from the dog and they wouldn't be aggresive becasue the dog's trust her and know their place in the pack in relation to the owner...

The kid was a new intruder and the dog was basically doing what it would with any new member to the pack... sorting out the pecking order...

That's for any dog I think... they will always test the water atleast once early with their owner to see where they stand in the pack.

Funnily enough it seemed the order of our pack was mum, dad, me dog... lol... it was hilarious as the dog was petrified of mum... and he would get so happy if she showed him affection... once he wet himself he was so happy he got a pat from her!

The farm could be like a human hospital in where owners leave the dog in the care of these people to whelp. We have friends who do this for German Shepherds, the dog is left at the kennel with about 4 weeks to go before whelp, then collected when pups are around 4 weeks. It could also be a that they had a specialised stud and had many bitches to mate.

The type of puppy farms i disagree with are the ones that continually use the same bitch's to breed litter after litter with little consideration for the animals wellbeing & only focused on making money.

This is bullshit. The opinion poll in the HS today was "Should Rottweillers be banned in Victoria"

Im sick and tired of bleeding heart morons jumping on singular events and trying to wipe out activities because of one, or a couple of completely inadequate morons who dont know how to handle animals, or children around animals.

Ban people who dont know how to control themselves around animals from going near them, not kneejerk react when a dog has a natural reaction.

its no different to people wanting to kill sharks after they get a bite of a human, well darrr we are in THEIR territory, if we are in their habitat, of course we are food to them

mmm yeh andy, i was going to say a similar thing, the killing of shark disgusts me probs the worste of all, we are the stupid ones in their territory and home (we are invading) and they are just going by natural instinct. I bodyboard alot, and i always do at my own risk and knowing of the dangers of sharks, most of the time they are mistaking us for seals anyways.

It's the owner not the dog, doesnt nobody watch the dog whisper?

i have a pitty that ive had for almost 8 years now and his never hurt any child what so ever, its how u bring up the dog that counts and how you treat him around other people, on the negative side of a a child its scared of a dog of coase its going to sense that and attack.. maybe the owner put something in the childs mind to make him think that..

Not sure if I agree with you on the Pitbull stance.....I love all dogs, but belive these things should be wiped out completely....they are bred to fight other dogs, its in their mental makeup.....Sorta like a greyhound...they have a natural chasing instinct,so weather its a 8 week old pup,or a 14 year old ex racer,if a cat or small animal runs past they will chase...Well treated pittys arent aggressive towards people or kids, but if a person/child is trying to save their own dog being torn apart from one of these monsters they will attack.....I had to put an axe through the head of one, attacked the neighbours dog,and took to the neighbour when he tryed to save his dog...

thats a good point but to put ur hand in between 2 dogs fighting is crazy...but without thinking something like that would occur, but if u thought about it and give it anothe approach eg. using a stick u might have another outcome.. or let them battle it out its nature..

[edit] try a garden hose with full water pressure, ost dogs hate bathtime.. aiming it in there mouths and they get confused and think there drowning.. eg.. forget whats going on and walk away or give up for a awhile.

..my cats asleep with my dogs.. laws of nature dont apply at my house, ill post a pic if i have to lol = the owner

dont worry goon,we squirted it with the hose, and i bashed it with the axe handle first, even when i split its head open with the axe handle it didnt even flinch......so i spun the axe around and planted it blade first through its skull.....was an absolute last resort......and let them battle it out its nature??????well,my widowed neighbour in his 70s poor little daschhound wasnt in a fair fight to start with, and died as a result of his injurys....then my neighbour died 3 weeks later....of a broken heart........and a pic of the cats sleeping with it means the laws of nature dont apply???....hmm,if you really want to prove that, see if it will sleep with a strange dog thats the same sex....

well my cats wouldnt last a second with another persons dog, casue that animal wasnt brought up the way mine are, which comes back on the owner again, if all owners treated there dogs without the influence of violence and the right training the world would probley be a safer place for all dogs and humans alike, but hey thats never going to happen..
