Eight-year-old Jessie savaged by rottweiler while cleaning dog cages | The Australian

What a complete IDIOT!!!

And how can he even remotely blame the owner of the farm?

I've read a couple articles regarding this and the farm owner has a strict policy against children near the dogs... FULL STOP!

How can someone be so stupid to take a 8 year old child to feed ONE Rottweiler let alone 20 at a farm...

These are huge, powerful animals and the fact they are on a breeding farm means they are not used to children!!

And the idiot says the owner is stupid becasue she didn't have collars on the dogs?

Is he serious... we used to have a rottweiler and when he wanted to go somewhere or do something... never in my life would I let a child near dogs that size... I used to not let my mates... ADULT mates in the back ward without me being right next to them and NEVER when the dog was feeding.

I also heard that while the court did not order the owner fined or the dog destroyed... the owner has opted to destroy the dog anyway... I guess to keep a friend.

WTF!!!

An animal put down because HUMAN STUPIDITY...

I feel for the kid... because children trust the judgement of adults to keep them safe and this COMPLETE WANKER clearly doesn't have the mental capacity to make these judgements.

I also read in another article that this dog was actually "play teased" with the food but I'm going to assume this is something formulated by the media.

But yeah... poor bloody dog... since the farm has a stict policy on children this is probably one of the few times the animal has had contact with a child.

This idiot should be banned BY A COURT ORDER from ever looking after children.

No doubt the poor animal will b e destroyed because of the stupidity of someone who thought it was a good idea to let a child into a kennel not even knowing a dogs temperament.

Agree with OP,very poor decision to expose a child to that situation.

Dont agree with "Puppy Farming" though...

The farm could be like a human hospital in where owners leave the dog in the care of these people to whelp. We have friends who do this for German Shepherds, the dog is left at the kennel with about 4 weeks to go before whelp, then collected when pups are around 4 weeks. It could also be a that they had a specialised stud and had many bitches to mate.

yeh, i feel very bad for the girl, but it was her fathers RESPONSIBILITY, not the farmers nor the dogs fault..
but it is a dogs instinct to get the slightest bit agressive when someone is present while they are eating (let alone right next to the food) i know as i have a dog, and know thats one of the last things i want to do to it.

her fathers responses and acts really reflect his mental capacity.
even though i understand he would have been thoroughly upset, angry and in seek of revenge i still question his position as a father.

personally i think that (in most cases) animals that are going to be put down because they have injured or killed a person is wrong, most of the time it is because of human intefering with the animals, we are in their territory and we are acting in an unresponsible matter.

why would you punish the animal if it does not know that it has done something wrong, nothing will coming from taking the innocent animals life

And whats more stupid is the father says, quote:

Idiot Father said:
I believe the owner is very very stupid, she doesn't have collars on any of the dogs which makes it very hard to control the dog when it has it's mind set on something

So he says the animals are hard to control... and he let the kid in anyway??

This man is mentally retarded!

Dead on Jesterarts, bloody idiot of a father! The only dog I would let any of my neices and nephews near is my own, and only when I or my brother are watching.

And I don't know about other owners but I can pick-up and do whatever I want with my dogs food while she is eating, won't even growl at me.

mmm yeh it might be a trust kind of thing, your dog is probably used to you feeding it and taking its bowl away when its finished, but this dog has never seen a little kid before, and might have become very suspicious and protective over its food when she approached it

Same with any dogs we have had, we could take food from any of our bred dogs mouths(German Shepherds) however, I would never suggest trying it if you weren't one of us.

Poor kid and dog, but like whats been said, the father is obviously missing a few brain cells to let the child near them.
