I want to start putting Royal Purple oil in my VY I SS 5.7 and was wondering if anyone uses it, has any pro's or cons on using it, and which one is best to use if so (ie. the 5W30 or 10W40). The car has done 180,000k's and i am just about to start changing the oil and filter myself. Also does anyone know a good brand oil filter to use, or are Ryco or Cooper just as good? Thanks.

hey mate, i use the 10w40 and my car has 187000 on the clock. the engine loves it!!! so id recomend using it.

genuine oil filters will be almost the same price as aftermaket mate

I would probably be using 10W40 for an engine with that many K's but see which one your engine likes.

    Pros: Good
Con: You sold your first-born to pay for it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Actually did buy the 10W40 so i'm stocked now that it should be the right one. It actually was only 4 bucks dearer than Mobil 1, but the bad part is i had to sell 2 kids cause i had to buy 2 lots of 5ltrs this time round. Hopefully will be well worth it.
