No one cares that you've been driving since you were seven - I've been cooking food since I was five and I'm still **** at it.

My VE SV6 is hardly "too fast". The utes weigh 1600ish and the sedans 1700ish. You need a decent motor too pull that wieght. If anything they should be banning p platers from driving cars that are more then 20 years old. Wayyyyy more likely to die in an old 5l than a sv6. ESP, front+side airbags, lsd etc. I'd rather be driving a faster/safer car than a death trap.
Something to think about, luckily the government won't go there. Imagine the dint on sales of aussie family sedans when buyers find out their kids won't be driving it. Couldn't imagine going to and from work in some gutless 4cyclinder POS either. Leave it as it is, pretty good system.

To the OP, mate. Nothings going to change soon. The laws as they are now punish the majority for the actions of a few. Being a car enthusiast does not make you a hoon... nor does your age.

Just do a few stealth mods. Should be plenty for your car.. then tune it. RTAsses won't be able to tell the difference (unless u do something pretty stupid)

i know no one cares i was just pointing out that just cause im on my P's doesnt mean im a noob when it comes to driving... the whole point being that the more you do something the better you get at it

thanks man at least someone got the whole point of this... that the restrictions are just a blanket law so the government has an excuse the next time a p-plater dies in a commodore that has a performance exhaust... if they really cared they would change a lot of laws but it would seem the majority of people just prefer hanging s**t on people who want to work on their car and have it drive how they would like it to

So you were driving, unaccompanied, in wet weather, dry weather, fog, heavy traffic, light traffic, dusk, dawn, night, day since you were 7? I think not.

So when it comes to driving, unaccompanied yes, you are a "noob"[/quote]

The statistics about young people dying on the roads are black and white.

lol, p platers are lucky these days. My first car was a vh slug 202 which battled to pull the skin off a rice pudding. You've got plenty of time for more power later on. My advice, be patient and wait until your restrictions are lifted.

VH didnt weight as much as a VT v6 though mate, Power to weight ratio is about the same. And you could have driven a Lamborghini if you had wanted too...

That's only thing that I find spastic about these laws, Peak power means exactly dick.

Power to weight is the only way to define the performance of a car. Yet we have the "ZOMG11tyKW" legislation.

A VN SS has about the same power to weight ratio as a VE SIDI SV6. Yet you can drive one and not the other..

I got a commodore cause they are easy as to repair and to service lol, and they are a perfect family car witch me and the mrs want for our expect to arrive one of these days.
I think i drive so slow cause when you have see a head on smash killing both people and seeing their head hanging out the window opens your eyes, opened mine right up, not nice to see at all :(

That's the pacific high way for you though...
I had to drive up that POS every day for four years from Evans Head to Ballina. Seen about a dozen serious crashes in that time, Four of which were fatal.
Its more luck, then anything to do with skill when driving on that road, that said, there is ALLOT of retarded drivers in that are. P plater or not...

im doing on average 40000ks a year driving to and from work and around the city... anyone who has driven to wollongong when its raining or foggy knows how bad it can be and i feel comfortable in heavy rain and fog cause i know that i can get out of most situations should they arise... for some reason everyone seems to think you have to be over 50 to not be classified a noob when it comes to driving

i would like to see these statistics first... also i bet they wont mention how many of those accidents were cause by sutpidity and the fact that they were driving a car so old that it had little to no safety features... and have these figures decreased at all since these new laws came in... bringing in a law wont always fix the problem but saying there is a problem makes people over look that

also isnt going from a v6 with 155kw to a v8 with 250kw more dangerous than going from 155 to say 200 in steps of 10-15 kws... thats the whole point... gradually adding mods means you will get used to more power slowly not in one huge lump that will end with a lot of wheelspin, smoke and an immovable power pole

    Aww are you ok sookie?
I dont agree with it either, but having a sook on here will get you no where.
And don't say you want the extra power to 'avoid dangerous situations' or something like that, because we all know you just want to swing hoops and wank on to your mates about it.

    Another RTA Special!!

I know a lady who tried to get a licence later in life. She turned up with all the required documentation. To get that, it was lucky that her second husband was alive. The NSW government had lost a pile of original marriage certificates, so had declared all original marriage certificates to be invalid. However, she was not qualified (due identity requirements - see below) to get a copy of the marriage certificate, which was valid. Her husband was able to do so. Otherwise, she could never have achieved a valid marriage certificate in NSW.

However, there was another hiccup. She had name changes due marriage, divorce and remarriage. Her divorce decree had an error in her middle name. The RTA official at the counter ruled that she could not prove her identity and therefore could not get a learner's licence. She asked to see the manager, who was adament that she could not get a licence in NSW because of this error. No if's. no but's!

She subsequently sought a passport, and ran into the same problem. However DFAT are more understanding than the NSW RTA, and conducted a follow up investigation at their cost, and eventually issued the passport.

Is this yet another indictment of the NSW Labour Government (what an oxymoron!)?

A guy comes on here and tells you the truth and look at your response.

Its quite obvious to me you are immature and dont even have the mental experience to understand what he told you, let alone the years of experience to back up your abilitys as an aware and responsible driver.

You should put that quote in your Sig, come back in 20 or so years if your still alive and think of what an asshat statement you just made.

    Grow Up !!!

lol not really cause this is giving me depression thats how much it annoys me... i just wanted to see what people thought of the laws and if anyone else out there thought the way i did

as for the extra power why does anyone want the extra power... its makes life more enjoyable when you can overtake easily rather than pulling out in traffic burying your foot and waiting for the gnome under the bonnet to run faster... as for getting the thing sideways it does that easily enough in the wet without any help so its not going to make a huge difference

In traffic overtaking can be dangerous enough to gain an extra second these days, get out of bead earlier.
As for getting sideways in the wet V6 style thats the exact reason behind these laws because of the mindset of people like yourself.

Sorry for sounding like an asshole but you are you own worste enemy and half the reason why these laws exist, to protect others and you from yourself.
