hey, my car went in for RWC today, only has these items before i get the cert

1x leaking rear shock (purchased 2x new monroe GT gas shocks already for it)
1x Numberplate light not working (globe)
1x Left headlight aim is too high (hes fixing it)
    Fog lamps not working???

he said if they're they're they have to work.. wtf :p how is that a item anyway can i get away with just ripping them out till after rwc then fixing them, havnt finished with them yet

but yeah the other issue is when the fog lamps are on the headlights go off, as if back to parkers.. is this normal?

Just rip them out.... its like a spare wheel, if its there its an item and has to be road worthy, if its not there, dont worry about it its not an item :)

oh, the idea of the lamps i guess is that they cut you head lights back to avoid reflection from the fog... the whole dont use high beams in fog theory... guess it reduces the light as much as possible while the lamps are on!

With the fog lights, i'll be the relay or theres a wire that comes off the relay, and is spliced into the headlight/highbeam wire, so they will turn off when the highbeams are activated. That wire is probably in the wrong place or is shorting somewhere. Just take them off, less hassel and you can fix them later. They won't see the wiring, as its behind the bumper.

Yep unfortantly he's right if there there they have to work i have been told the same thing, I was going to get fogs on my car and have them sit there then wire them later, But i was told if they are there then they must work, Same as if i have 8 airbags they must all be there and working, Maybe you could remove them just for now? And then have them fixed later on after the Road Worthy?.
Funny story my brother had a EF Ghia and he was pulled up by the police one day and told to make them fogs work as they were the cornering lamps and he didn't have them wired like that, So he had to make them work the way they had them from factory, It's pedantic but that's them.

On my last roadworthy I had to refix my rear speakers as they weren't secured enough so not suprising they got you for the fog lamps

As others have said here take them off and put the car through again and it should be fine
