that fault code list only takes into account the instrument cluster, fault codes, in the ecm/tcm will have no bearing on this, unless they are missing

Thanks Andyman!:bang:

Guys

Is this fault related solely to the Alloytech or do the oil pressure senders on Ecotec's also fail and give out the SVS signal?

i believe vys use a different warning system

Thank mate. Sounds like they also use a better one than the Alloytech.

oh re read that a lil better, the svs warning covers many many errors, right down the fuel pump relay error, so no it dosnt soully use svs as the warning for oil pressure

havnt heard of too many issues with ecotec pressure sensors

This might help

Wal,
You could try a diagnostic before replacement.

And if you replace it yourself you need the special oil pressure switch socket also! (about $10 bucks :p )

ok, i took it to ultra tune and they checked it for free. no error codes were in the computer. they tried to reset the computer with the tech 2 and would not do it. they had a VZ the week before with exactly the same problem. they suggest wait till it within 1000klms of the 145,000 service and see if the computer will let us do a reset. if not they will comtact holden and hit them up for an answer. keep you all informed.

Rodbol what exactly would i do to test it? i found out today that when i removed the wires and plug from the oil sensor that it is covered in oil. guess what its leaking. so how would i do a test to see if that is where the fault is before i buy NEW $140 SENSOR?

You need a multimeter to test voltage.
With engine running at ilde you need
to back probe or tap the brown-black wire.
It should read 1.4V with engine hot.
However make sure you clean plug and
terminals of oil and find your leak.
This may be causing your problem.

Hmnnm, had a look at my son's Acclaim today and it has two faults that could have somehing to do with this error message on his car.

The oil pressure switch appears to be leaking the same as Wal's. Have you tested it and found if it was your problem yet Wal?

The other fault is the small rubber hose running off the throttle body, right at the top front of the motor. It's perished right through in one spot. I intend to replace it and get a quote on the switch, whch I should get for trade price, but at $140 retail, it will still be exxy trade.
