s1 and s2 v6...difference??

just wondering wat exactly is the difference between the series 1 and 2 v6 engines are..i have a 90' vn calais auto, and have been told by mechanic that a manual conversion cannot be performed on a series 1 engine?? because they have different cranks is wat he said?? so tryin to figure out which series i have....

Just go buy a Gregory's Manual. There are lots and lots of differences between the series 1, series 1.5 (1990) and series 2 engines.

I presume the reason your mechanic says this is because the crankshaft is different between the manual and automatic versions, except for the series 2 (1991) which have the same crankshaft in both auto and manual engines.
