I have just bought a SAAS twin gauge pod for the CV8. Been think about putting in oil pressure and voltmeter gauges, and have looked at various threads on here about it.

First problem is the pod is clearly labelled ‘not suitable for climate control’, but I had to find out why for myself.
Seems that there is only 50mm between where the face of the gauge and some sort of horizontal composite board under the dash facia, which is why the pod is labelled as such. Possibly not enough clearance
If it is not practical, I can either return it, or put it in the VZ, after I have removed my 12V outlets, and satnav mounts that I have put in the hole. Dunno.

Has anyone successfully put a SAAS gauge pod in a VY/VZ with a climate control dash ?

VY is fine VZ wont fit as it has the different style dash with climate control

Should have mentioned that my VZ doesn't have the climate control. Same dash-top facia as shown above as the VY, but underneath it is a space, whereas the VY climate control has bits underneath that makes it possibly too crowded for extra gauges.

Mine has them.

Been looking at Cross8 dash photos tonight.
Would it be possible to remove the incline gauges, and fit 52mm SAAS gauges which I hope are less than 50mm in depth.
If you reckon they would fit, I'll try to get a dash-top panel from a wreck.

Looks like I have some measuring to do.

I should mention that the area under the gauges doesn’t seem any different with or without climate control.

I have a VZ with each.

Your 'slug powered VZ' would have the X pictured dash with the storage compartment flip-up lid ?
VZ Monaro aux gauges look like Kermit is peeking out of the top of the dash.

Both VY and VZ came with the same versions of the centre facia.

I went outside and got some photos (at the bottom) to show the differences.

These did not change between models and all fit up the same (assuming this is about fitment only, not if climate control will work etc)
All the same bolt holes.

The only difference is the high spec facias had the bezel around them and had a smaller lid part fitted with either Kermit eyes or a compartment.

Frogs eyes for the small one.
The flatter dual gauge pod for the bigger lid.

Thanks for those photos. If I had the nous to post a photo of mine, I would ...... but.

The VZ ( 3 knob/dial style) looks like the 'standard low spec facia' ...... just a hole where I fitted 2 x12v sockets and a mount for the satnav, which all hide under the lid when not being used.

The VY CV8 under the lid looks the same, except there is a horizontal composite board just below the lid, which extends out to where the 2 Phillips head screws are. There is no wrap-over section above the vents, so Kermit won't fit.
I have test fitted the SAAS pod, no room behind the gauge holes .......... the reason it is not suitable for climate control. I am not going to stuff around trying to make it fit, return it for a refund or credit.

JHP have this ....... https://jhp.com.au/product-category/interior-accessories/gauges-gauge-pods/holden-vy/ .......... with the loom and fittings, somewhat expensive, but that's OK by me, if it is suitable.
If they are at work, not locked down, I am going to ask a few questions next week. Their photo shows a non-climate control dash.
It just could get all too hard. :(
