one tonners had the larger yoke. AFAIK, all other v8 unis are the same for the old holdens. If it did have a 6 cylinder diff and tailshaft in it, it was probably because somebody broke the original one and replaced it with a 6 cylinder one that they had access to.

Make sure you don't get a 2.78 diff with the intention of changing the diff gears to a shorter ratio - apparently the centres are different. 3.08 - 4.44 are the same though if you're looking to mess around with the gears. The real 10 bold salisburys are more oval shaped, a bit like an egg. The smaller ones are the 8 bolt type which i think ari may be talking about which have a more circle looking back cover.

Alot of people think that '10 bolt' refers to the number of bolts holding the cover on, but it's actually referring to the number of bolts for the crown wheel

Mate, you lost me....Both disc brakers I have here I mentioned what they came out of and the ratios....I also know, the diff yoke can't be interchanged between the 2 different ratios, due to the spline being different.

So to clarify, the 2.78 disc braker came from a VH SLE with a factory fitted 308....This diff I have now put in a VH that has a 202 and 4 speed....All I did was unbolt the drum brake diff and bolted the disc brake diff in place. No tailshaft mods what so ever

The 3.08 disc brake diff is in a VC, fitted with a 202 and toyota 5 speed...This one I had to get a V8 tailshaft as it had the larger unis and change over the gearbox input shaft...

FWIW, I think the V8 uni part no is 2030.....and yes, the early Holden unis are identical to the Commodore uni's from the VB through to the VH and possibly later...

I'm quite surprised you were able to find one this clean.

Do you have any current plans for it atm? or just going to drive it as is for a while?
