Theres a few small bits and pieces I want to do, such as SLE wheels and eventually some light engine work. But for now its mostly drive it and do little service bits that need doing, shocks will need replacing at some point soon at which point it will probably get lowered slightly. But I'm back at uni now income is down and expenses are up plus the ute needs a bit of stuff done on it at the moment, so its just a case of when I have some spare money to play with.

I sold a 10 bolt 3.08 Salisbury for a hq last year and only got $65 for it, so I reckon you should be able to get it a bit cheaper. But, I'd still find a live axle bw78 with an LSD and stick that under there. If you look on ebay, they often go for $100 to $150 with LSD's for 3.08 ratio and replacement parts are readily available as well as reasonably priced diff gears if you decide you want a bit more acceleration

Sooo I picked up a 3.08 LSD borgy out of a VS ute for $125 today, so can you guys recommend any good places to get it tightened/rebuilt and probably shortened too. Eyy, Ari looking at you both lol. At a very rough measure in the dark last night I think I could nearly fit the diff as is under there at the moment without rolling the guards, but as I want to lower it a bit shortening and/or guard rolling will have to happen.

Heaps of people have done this conversion, and from what I can gather most of the time they just need to roll the guards (depending on what wheels they're running). Obviously though, the extra width of the diff limits your ability to put wide rims/tyres on it.

You'll need a different handbrake cable to suit the disc rear end now too, and the rear half of a vn tailshaft that you can steal the yoke off and get it welded to your existing tailshaft. I had the one for the salisbury to t700 shortened, new unis installed and balanced for $180 including parts from knox driveshafts. If it didn't need uni's I was quoted $100 just to have it shortened which is really good, considering most quotes just for shortening were around $300-$400.

Does it slip when you try and turn it by hand with someone holding the other end?

Sounds fairly straight forward then. So this has now become on of those things where I'm like if I've got the diff out I may as well do this, this and that at the same time. So in rough order the things I need to buy/do before putting this all in, in one go.

Brakes-Pads/Rotors/1"MC/Hand brake cable
Springs
Shocks
Probably some bushes
Repaint the diff to clear off a little surface rust
VN tailshaft/yoke welding etc
Diff tightened/rebuilt whatever (haven't checked it yet)

In theory yes hopefully.
Nah copped a friday evening shift so only made it to BP. Should be there at the next one though, I'll be in a Hi-vis wandering around with a camera so I shouldn't be too hard to find lol.
