Be good to hinge the panel instead of screwing it in the spare area next to the tank would be a good place for a tool box or something , anyway work well cheers.
I find it's a good place to hide your stash if crossing the border, especially if you have all the screws and none missing. :D:D

Its all the same s**t all you want is to keep water out not holding down panels, it will work just fine. Or just get windscreen silicone.

If you decide to use a silicone sealer be careful which one you use , some are acidic and will eventually eat through the paint and promote rust.

Hallelujah, someone has worked it out why you shouldn't use Silicone on vehicles, shame that some others around here haven't got a clue and just Google away and give out really bad advice !

Praise the Lord they now make neutral cure sealant that is non corrosive, If it smells like vinegar then its acidic ( corrosive ), no Odour non corrosive, cars built prior mid 80's were known for rust around the front and back glass because of the acidic cure method hence the reason they introduced a new kid on the block which is less corrosive, that's why you see less corrosion on new cars around the glass these days.

Just in case you need to know without looking at the link:

  • Provides primerless adhesion to a wide range of substrates
  • UV and weather resistant
  • Low odour
  • Non corrosive
    Service Temperature -40ºC to +150ºC
SikaSeal Roof and Gutter Silicone Sealant is a one part neutral curing multipurpose silicone sealant suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. It provides weatherproof joints between various substrates such as glass, metals, painted surfaces, wood, ceramic tiles and concrete.
