Depends what you are after.

A sealed box is smaller, faster, But doesnt go as low.

A ported box is larger, Tune it to a certain frequency, Goes stupidly low, Can produce muddle audio if build incorrectly.

Let me google that for you

Seriously though, search around. Not just on this forum (questions isn't obviously Commodore specific) and you will have more results than you need, it's a widely discussed topic.

Sealed Vs Ported Subwoofer Boxes

Although this information is correct for a lot of subwoofers, it's too broad and not very accurate. It all comes down to the individual sub and the specifications of it.

For example, a sub with a Qts of 0.2 is not going to go very well in a ported box and is likely to perform better in a sealed box.

Similarly, a sub with a Qts of 0.8 is going to perform much better in a larger ported box, or even an IB configuration.

It all comes down to the sub..

In the case of the OP, your sub will work in both sealed and ported configurations.

Ported.
Pro - Great for SPL.
Con - You loose music quality.(SQ)

Sealed.
Pro - Good all round sound, Can't really go to wrong with sealed.(build wise)
Con. Does not go as low, If you are after that.

I always go by.
Ported for SPL.
Selaed for quality.

I always choose ported, I buy woofer's that work best in a ported enclosue.

This isn't correct, some subs will play better / more linear in a ported box and be better for SQ, some the other way round.

Though what you say is often true, it's too general to apply to every sub / every situation.

The best subwoofer configurations are, in rough order:

Long sealed box: this is an undersized cabinet so the woofer is operating in the compliance limited region. It requires active electronics for a flat response and excursion limiting, hence their patent (expired I believe). AFAIK there are still pro models from Bag End.

Sealed Box: only one diaphragm resonance frequency and impedance peak. Tuning for minimum temporal distortion is Bessel or lower, low driver Qms helps. Bigger is better.

For more details about sealed or ported subs, you can have a look at this post.
