what would cause the vp to stall on and off in the town sometimes and the oil symbol on the dash to dissapear is that security switch on the left front door area going or is it something else with the immobilisar how easy is it to replace the switch on the left door area or where ever the problem is and how much is it to replace it. i need new and really good secondhand prices. cheers

hmmm heaps of things can make the car stall intermittently.

could be electrical: a loose wire somwhere or a fuel problem. what makes u think its the immobiliser switch?

You can by-pass the switch by shorting the two pink/black wires and do the same with the black/orange and orange wires. try to access them from the front passengers footwell - otherwise you will need to drill out the (from memory) two pop rivets that hold the switch in the door frame.

strange about the oil symbol disappearing - the light should only be on with low oil pressure. is this light on all the time?

the random stalling could be the CAS (crank angle sensor), but i don't think this would have any effect on the oil light. there's a way to check if it's the CAS that i think involves chucking cold water on it, but i'd read up on it first or you might damage something.

any fault codes thrown? oil light might be a different problem altogether (faulty sensor maybe)

since his low oil pressure light is coming on i'd suspect a faulty oil pressure switch. the reason being that the fuel pump is wired through the oil pressure switch so in the event of an accident and the engine stalls then the fuel supply is cut to prevent a fire harard etc. also check the fuel pump relay.

no what i ment was sometimes it stalls sometimes and the orange symbol on the dash dissapears and when you go to start it that orange symbol dissapears and it stalls sometimes and the orange symbol on the dash is still there. my mechanic said it would be the sensor for the immobilisar
