Selected Gear LED

Im thinking of putting a series of LEDs or a LCD Display some were on the dash that wiil light up no the selected Gear in a Auto i think i ,ay need microswitches or can i use the existing switches or is that guna mess up the ECU

unfortunately i don't think there's an electrical signal wire(s) near the shifter to route to the dash, and the signal would have to come from the trans or ECU directly.. I'm no auto elec, so can't be 100%, but I do know that anything is possible with the right cash and the right person for the job. Give Mkal Automotive in Vic a call, i think he tinkers with all electrical stuff.

What model commodore are we talking about here as well?
