September 11 ...10 years on.

I went to bed early that night because I had a mining economics exam the next day at uni.

I woke up some time that night and the tv was blaring. I walk out and I'm like 'wtf is going on, turn that bloody thing down'.

'Check this out, plane just went into the World Trade Centre in yank land'.

I'm looking at it, convinced it was a movie or something for the first 5 minutes.

Anyway, went to uni the next day and everyone had bags under their eyes and someone asked the lecturer if they could postpone the exam because of 9/11, and he retorted 'fark the yanks and their foreign policy, they had it coming, exam on today'

I was nearly finished the first year of my apprenticeship then, was at work already and a couple of the guys had the tv switched on in the conference room, around 6:50am.
Pretty unbelieveable at the time.

Didn't take long for the joke texts and emails to get around

and it still isnt on.... (i was wondering where my cartoons went that day)

I know right I missed cheese tv (until I got foxtel no Shortage of Cartoons there lol)

But I remember watching it and then going to school didn't really effect me much

first thoughts were: "sweet, thats gonna make my flights to england cheaper"
second thoughts were: "gee, that building came down awefully fast"
third thoughts were: "that building came down way too fast"

thoughts from then on were of sadam hussein and france/germany talking about trading barrels of oil in euro's instead of US dollars, free-fall times of demolished buildings, the low temperature burn rate of kerosene (jet fuel) and how much money they made back on insurance.

once again, some high up people doing really inhamane things for a profit.

was in grade 4, was mums bday so her and dad watched tv til about 11pm, then the attack happened and they ended up watching it for about 2-3 hours... luckily didn't wake us kids up or we would have had an even worse day after waking up to no cheese Tv.

its still a weird place to be, was there a few weeks back, unfortnatly the big memorial wasnt open yet, they only had this little one inside what looks to be a old shop

the freedom tower is at 54 stories, so just over half way, the glass tower to the right was the third building destroyed that day(tower 7 i think) and the one in the back ground to the right was pretty badly damaged

that its it with the crane looking at it from the empire state building, at half the completed height, so its going to be huge, also the second tower is not too far behind it

the worst thing was there is still people there with there conspiracy theories, have huge set ups with big posters and banners
