After a few warmer days here in Sydney lately, I've noticed the A/C has trouble getting me comfortable. I normally leave the climate control set to 20 degrees but even if I crank it to 'C' which is the lowest it goes it pretty pathetic. Swapping between fresh & recirc doesn't do much. I have a digital thermometer and I stuck it in the vent and it gets the air temp at the vent down to around 10 degrees on a 30 degree day. Takes about 10 minutes to achieve this temp. My VT could get 4 degrees at the vent. Gone are the days of ice spitting under-dash A/C but I thought the VE's would have been more efficient than this:rant:
ii think thats what you get with the "eco" friendly gas, i have noticed that the hard plastics seem to retain heat
My Series II aircon is plenty cold enough for me here in Brisbane. I usually have the climate control set to 22 however I occasionally bump it up to 23 as it gets a little chilly. It doesn't take an unreasonable amount of time to cool down after having been parked in the sun.
I think it's good! I am more than happy with the aircon performance in my MY11 SV6. I also live in Sydney (out west). I park the car in the sun all day. On the hottest day (Tuesday at 37.4), I drove between 1 and 2 km with the windows open and aircon set to 22. Closed the windows and the inside temperature was better than bearable and comfortable by the time I arrived home: about 6 km and less than 10 minutes. The outside temperature was still 35 when I hopped in the car. Sounds like something is wrong with yours to me.
Mine is a quite ok usually, sometimes seems to take a while to get cold, but its fine after that, I had more of a problem getting it to heat up nicely last winter, seemed to never get quite warm enough.
Ive noticed my ssv aircon is fairly shite house too for the heat up here, my old vs used to freeze the cabin up in a few mins
No problems here either. So far, down in SA we've had temperatures up to 35-36 degrees. I hate the heat down here too. Real dry. Give me a humid heat any day. My air con has not missed a beat. Cools the car down within a couple of minutes, so much so that I get too cold.
Just my luck if its leaking. Today I must admit it worked quiet well. The performance of the A/C seems to vary. Maybe its a climate control problem with the system letting heater air into the mix. I can always hear a modulation of some vent behind the dash. Sounds like someone squashing a coke bottle. You would think when I've selected cold the vent door would stay in one position.
