I just sanded mine while it was in there, went from fairly low grit and worked my way up, then used metal polish on th rest. Came out nice you can see in my thread and there is a how-to on the forum as well
And no HID's are bad, I like Philips Xtreme Vision nice and actual white, not yellow or blue

440$ for stage 2 with corvette servo, i payed 850$ to get that and box rebuilt and refitted , and the corvette servo gets rid of old one and puts in one from corvete transmision, giving me brutal 1st to 2nd shift and got a little chirp out of 3rd
