    Is it hold both the UP / DOWN arrows on the trip computer while you start the car? Its some combination like that, but its not MODE / SET.

    97 VT Wagon Exec / VK 202 EFI
    Hold down up/down buttons and turn on ignition. After it beeps hold down set button until service reminder is reset
