Hi all, my car was suppose to be due now for a service, but i am wondering if it really warrants a service, due to what i have done already.
In the last couple of weeks, i have installed a new water pump so the cooling system has been fully flushed out and also changed it to LPG [ professionally]
So i have had new plug leeds
    spark plugs
    air filter
    motor oil
oil filter........... checked tramission oil - ok
    thermostat
new coolant & distalled water ..........checked all hoses -ok & fan belt - ok
new front brake pads & disc machined............back pads down but still - ok

rear main motor seal leaking but its not to bad and hasn't got any worse in 7 years no other leaks any were.

So, i am on a pension and trying to save a buck [like all of us] if i can.
    thanks
    Ron

Well a service is generally good because they check the car over for anything that may be a problem in the future or that you may not have noticed, but thats pretty much your basic service right there + some.

Just check the operation of all of your lights now, and check the rubber bushes front and rear, if it handles and steers ok, id say no don't worry about it for now.

No you don't need a service, there is no point replacing what you've already replaced anyway. I just get a thorough check over on the car to make sure nothing is cactus.

Thanks guys, you both make a good point in needing the professional eye to look it over still.
I should have mentioned before that when the front pads were done, i asked those guys , whilst your got it up on the hoist have a good look at anything else that shows any signs of wear & tear , they said it looked real good.

I was getting this same mechanic to service my car regularly, and even though he was a bit expensive at times, i put my trust in him, but when i dumbed the water from the cooling system, the crap that come out was unreal, i was really pissed off, i checked all my prior servicing bills and every one of them, it said checked cooling system and was ticked ok & correct amount of inhib added rar.rar. so i think he will be getting the flick and i will try to find a decent one now to go over it, just to make sure its ok.
    thanks a lot guys.
