Hey all! I'm planning to take my omega wagon for a trip around and through Australia. I figure a UHF CB would be a worthwhile investment for the journey.

Does anyone have experience setting up one in the commodore? The rear 12v socket and battery in the cabin makes for an easy power supply. But, antenna setup may be challenging. I'm thinking of a window antenna, but aren't sure how much it reduces the range. What about buying roof racks and placing it on there?

Also, any recommendations for radio?

I'd check with Holden regarding the correct wire routing and installment methodology for any in cab transmitter you want to fit inside your vehicle. You dont want to cause any interferance in one o many of the control units dotted around the cabin when doing you breaker breaker rubber ducky routines over the airwaves :p Some manufacturers dont recommend fitting transmitters inside vehicles.

Here's a Code of Practice from ARCIA
