Hey guys wondering if any of you could help me out here, I lost control in the wet last night and mounted the curb. This is the result, can anyone tell me if it's beyond repair or what I should do etc?

Does the wheel wobble when you turn it around when it is jacked up or is the wheel permanently leaning out at the top. I f the wheel wobbles then it is probably just a bent wheel so just bolt the spare on and get another wheel from the wreckers. If the wheel is permanently leaning out at the top then you have bent something in your rear suspension.

it's fixable but i reckon you have bent the lower control arm at the very least. probably shouldn't have been driving like an ass.

mate you are the one who can physically see where and what the damage is!!!! You have done some good damage to something in the rear end,the wheel would be the least of my worries.:banstick:Looks like its still holding air ?
If you cant see anything bent by comparing it to the other side, take it to some one who can

    You will need:

Drivers side rear lower control arm assembly (with wheel hub)
    Rear shock absorber
    A wheel
    5 wheel nuts.

Bolt that all up and get a full alignment. A cradle alignment may also be required.

Very hard to tell mate, as mentioned take the wheel off and look, compare to the opposite side. And post some pics from all angles too.

I could be wrong, but my other concern here is the diff too, looks like a very hard side on hit. Imagine impact straight into the diff gears via axle shaft, no good.

Tbh before buying replacement parts I'd take it to somebody who knows what they're doing, and most importantly somebody you can trust! With something like this a mechanic can have a field day.

But like others have said as well, good chance the lower control arm is likely bent.

    Good luck with it mate.

    Too many to list......
My first wagon I bought from an auction with the same damage for $600. Replace the entire complete rear cradle with one from a VX II, VY or VZ and replace that wheel.

Without knowing the circumstances of the accident you are condeming him for "driving like an ass"???

Around our place the roads get VERY slippery after it rains. I do not "drive like an ass", yet have skidded many times, sometimes going as slow as 30 KmH!
My wife has had a bad accident when the car skidded, and she was only doing around 40 KmH!

So, give advise (which is what was asked for), but don't comment on driving style without anything to base your assumptions on!

op said it was at night, also, so it's difficult to see an oil patch on a wet road at night on a corner.

I agree that the first thing you should do is jack it up and remove the wheel. Note how the suspension expands and the wheel moves as you jack it up, might give some insight into some damage. Then more piccies and look for parts where paint is cracked and dirt has worn off etc. An old dirty part that is damaged can sometimes be easily seen... it's "cleaner" where it bent.

It looks like suspension damage. I'd be hoping the rear control arm is all that's damaged, you might get away with replacing that which isn't any big deal. If the whole rear subframe it bent that's quite a big job as the diff needs to be dropped.

Similar thing happened to me, except I hit a traffic island (stupid, I know). I took it to pedders and paid $14.95 for a full check up. Apart from a $4000 repair quote they told me my front strut was bent. $30 later at the wreckers and it was fixed.
