Hi all, i had my usual yearly front end alignment done a couple weeks back, but since then when i get to around 100 klm per hour the steering wheel shakes some, its not real bad but just bloody annoying. The thing is it was not shaking before the alignment, i usually get the wheels balanced at the same time as the alignment but this time i completely forgot to ask to get it done, at the same time i got them to put a pair of disc pads on the back so all wheels were off, so i am guessing the wheels didn't go back on the original position possibly causing the steering wheel shake. My question is, would it be just the 2 front wheels causing the shake or do i need to get the whole four balanced ? thanks Rony
If the steering wheel is shaking then I would say the problem is with the front wheels but it would be best to get all 4 balanced.
are your tires directional? Iv'e had it happen to me where they have swapped the two fronts over, maybe on purpose maybe not, but worth a look.
Thanks guys for your replies, Dannyboy, i just went and checked the pattern on all the tyres and the two back ones are matching going the same way, but the two front tyres, the pattern is going in opposite directions, thanks a lot mate, i will go back and tell them to fix it. many thanks, Rony
fair call then, I hope they didn't do it on purpose, let us know what they have said, also let us know if you end up having to fix it yourself or if they recomend $600 of repairs to rectify your shaking steering wheel. Just incase, i'm assuming your going back to have them fix it on a matter of principle, however you can just swap your two front wheels over, left to right, right to left.
