Nah, the car is at some towing yard near Holden's Pt. Melbourne Head Office.

Some supersilious dick at Holden decided that in lieu of Customer Service and addressing a customer complaint, the only option was to have the car towed away and stored at a remote location, so as to hide the evidence of their inability to fix a car under warranty, address some basic customer expectations and deliver to the customer what they paid for.

Then, Holden didn't pay the towing & storage bill and after several weeks, Holden then tried to tell me that I had to pay the tow & storage costs, which I never requested or ordered and expressly advised them and the towie that I didn't authorise.

Quite disgracefully, at Holden they've removed the words Customer Service, Honour, Intergrity, Responsibility, Accountability and Decency from the staff operational manual and replaced them with words like, Deceit, Duplicity Betrayal, Arrogance and Intimidation.

RK, thought this story may interest you, a girl in geelong is having her holden barina replaced after a 3 year battle to fix her "lemon". Was in the paper today, however, all they are doing is finding a suitable same model second handy to give her in replacement. Guess its a small win for her after 3 years

I had the tyre wear issue with a VS.

Had a set of tyres wearing out on the inside at the rear. Raised it with the local dealer service staff. They said get two independent wheel allignments showing it out of limits, and they would fix it at the next service.

Already had the first wheel allignment, which identified the problem. Paid for a second, which confirmed the problem.

Next service was about two months away, so after discussing with the dealer, left it until then.

Came the big day. They rang me to say Holden had knocked back the fix, and I would have to pay. I was not impressed.

I had forked out for the Extended Holden Warranty on purchase. However, it had run out three weeks before. The response to fix it under that was that it had expired. But not when I informed you of the problem, I said. But you did not claim it then. But you had said you would fix it free yourself. Round and round in circles.

End result: For me, fo fix.

For dealer, no more custom from me. Also word of mouth to friends about that dealer. My estimate is that they have lost at least six sales in the last two years because of their poor response to this problem.

After three years, that's not a win for the customer at all. It's an example of a protracted dispute, where a sub-standard offer was made and unfortunately the customer comprimised. Very sad really.

I feel very sorry for the girl. I know just how she feels battling with the pricks at Holden.

How tragic that after 3 years of heartache and not getting what she paid for, all Holden is willing to do is provide a replacement used car.

Where is the consumer protection system??

Why does holden NOT READ these articles? I guess 1) cause they dont care and 2) they are to big to care about one or two people!
No one really gives a stuff in the big picture... they made a sale... thats all they care about.

Holden reads them alright. They have staff specifically assigned to doing so.

Holden is too far removed from real customers. They don't care about private buyers at all.

You need to remember that Holden manufactures and sells its' product to the Dealerships, not the end user.

We purchase from the dealership. Holden prefers complaints to be managed at dealeship level, as they really don't like addressing customer complaints at all. They do so in sufferance as a cost of doing business.

But sadly due to a myriad of reasons which are all Holden's fault, dealerships are not able to resolve a lot of issues, as the dealership isn't the manufacturer and the dealership doesn't make the ultimate decision, meaning the dealership's Client Realtionship Management process is held to ransom and directly and detrimentally affected by Holden.

so if they offered to replace yours with a 2nd hand one
    would you accept that?

Replaced mine with a second hand what? That's like asking me how long is a piece of string? Used is a term with extremely wide parameters.

The young lady purchased a used car under warranty, which turned out to be a dud. On this basis she is therefore entitled to a used vehicle equivalent as a minimum in replacement, plus some form of compensation for her inconvenience and stress.

If Holden really wanted to be seen to be genuinely interested in customer satifsfaction, then Holden as good will gesture should certainly have offered a new vehicle. She most certainly deserves a new car to compensate her for all her troubles.

Sadly, Holden has offered her less than this and she has accepted it for reasons unknown to all of us.

In my case, I purchased a new car, which is a significant difference to the young lady's situation.

I've been following this, like others here, for a while now and just had a thought.

Why don't you turn the negative into a positive and contact Ford's PR Dept and see if they want to milk the story?

"Ford Australia turn GMH's PR Fiasco into a win for Falcon."

Perhaps, given the competition between the two, they'll come up with a plan for a replacement vehicle and milk the story to TT/ACA ?

At the very least, the innuendo of the service being better at Ford might action GMH into resolving your issue and signing an agreement whereby this is put to bed.

It might be an avenue open to you.

    Cheers,

    Rick

Heeeey, that's a brilliant idea. Love it.

    Might work too...

And hey, if Ford do provide you with a vehicle, you could trade it in and get a Camry! LMAO!

Nice idea guys. I discussed this issue a few months ago with a mate of my father.

Ford and Holden have a gentleman's agreement between each other not to $hit in each others back yard on such matters.

So unless Holden pulls its' finger out, the car stays in storage costing them money.

    Good luck man.
I to had series 1 VT acclaim with the same problem.Holden and Ford both as bad as each other.
I bought a BA XR6 Turbo with a handbrake that doesnt work from factory.Had it fixed 2 times but still doesnt work.Think they would design a bloody handbrake that works.Same being for there heat sheilding ont there turbo exhausts,They rattle and vibrate it head off.they couldnt fix it.I ended up using 2 hose clamps to fix it.Doesnt matter now got rid of the exhaust.

Makes me wonder how holden fobbed off the engine issues with the LS1.Sure they rebuild them and give you free oil but what a load of crap. You shell out $60 k on a nice V8 commy you expect to be givin aT least a brand new engine or better still a new car.

Anyway goodluck dude hope holden caves in. :air:

    To answer in 4 words

    HOLDEN DOES NOT CARE

Holden has money to fund the $4000 fuel offer on V8's. (dealer pays $2000 and Holden pays $2000) Holden can pay for a half assed job to be done to fix a design fault on my car twice, but they refuse to fix it properly (probably because they already know it can't be fixed) Holden refuses a refund or replacement. Holden puts my car into storage and Holden expects me to pay for it! As if !!!!! MORONS !!!!!

HOLDEN'S view remains that customers who are disatisfied with HOLDEN refusing to honour warranty, have no right to return a faulty product to them. Real head up their own ar$e sort of stuff. They are so far removed from Mr Average customer at Holden, that they really do believe their own hype.

Those idiots waste millions of dollars every year on marketing, product placement (Eg supplying the vehicles for Blue Heelers) and various sponsorship deals, but they refuse to honour their new car warranty!!

For a bunch of supposedly educated and intelliegnt people with degrees, MBA's and Doctorates, they are collectively nothing more than COMMON THIEVES!

I'm now going to buy another brand. I've given up on Holden. They can crush my old car at Simmsmetal for scrap for all I care. I'm done with it. I've already told them I won't accept it back and I won't. It's gone so far past that point now, the situation is a disgracefully bad joke. As every day goes by, I tell more and more people and in doing so their opinion of Holden diminishes further and further. For Holden this case is a bit like Lotto in reverse for them. The longer they hold out, the more contemptuous their attitude is being perceived by everyone I talk to.

Eventually Holden's number will come up when ACA or Today Tonight run their next "Car Horror Stories" episode. I'll be ready and waiting to contribute to the show, with copies of all the letters I've sent to Hoden Chief Denny MOONEY which have failed to draw a response, along with the Statutory Declarations I've receicved from others in my position and the couple of very brief response letters from 2 Call Centre managers who are not empowered to actuallly do anything about my complaint. I'll derive great pleasure from naming the inept members of their management team I've written to and playing the tape recorded conversations and showing them up for the lying scumbags they are! (I established after about 12 months of owning my car I was being lied to by Holden, but naively waited fo the situation to improve. Nobody wants to admit they were duped. HOLDEN DUPED ME!)

Holden chief Denny Mooney (An American here briefly to use his time at Holden as a step in his career path) cares so little about customer complaints that he delegates responsibility of replying to complaint letters to him to staff without the authority to solve the problem.

Until Holden accepts responsibility for the mess Holden created and acts in a morally and ethically responsible manner, this issue will NEVER go away for them. They will always be obligated to me over their shameful conduct and I'll continue to warn people about their unscrupulous business practices and dodgy warranty.

There's nothing more they can do to me now. I've already experienced a 3 year nightmare of broken promises, lies and inept repairs from owning one their crappy cars, so really, what other abominable acts do they propose to inflict upon me?

According to a reliable source, the new Mitsubishi 380 won't be AWD for at least 12 mths and a performance version isn't even planned at present, so I've got no idea what to get. Who knows, I might even jump the fence, get into a Blue Oval machine and become a Craig Lowndes supporter all over again. But I think I'll do what increasing numbers of Australians are doing and buy something imported.

I'm still waiting for a Govt Dept to "investigate," whilst at the same time not holding my breath either.

I was just gonna say...dont wait for Today tonight to do a story...contact them now and let them know what ahs happened. Tell them the whole story, how there are others, and that you feel that the last thing to do is to switch brands, and you want to let everyone else know..

    You never know..it might work.
