Hey all, Living in the hills I regularly see Kangaroo's and have had 5 or 6 close calls while we have been living up here.

Now the thing is, I have noticed every time that the Kangaroo ALWAYS keeps hopping across the road and never stops even when my brakes are screeching towards it... arrogant pricks dont even look :p

If I get a shoo roo, will that cause them to stop dead on the road while I am driving along? Or flee in the opposite direction? As I would have hit a few had they simply stopped dead in the middle of the road....

So if they do actually work... How do they work and what reaction do roo's have to them???

I have a set in my glovebox, just wondering if I should fit them or not...

Cheers!

I've talked to a few people at my servo with shoo roo's, it lets out a high pitch sound and roo's won't even come close to it..

Apparently it shoo's them away, so they won't even be on the road in the first place..

I've talked to about 10 people and they all say that ever since the shoo roo, they haven't hit a thing.

Im talking the cheaper whistle type ones... Will they still do the job?

Everyone tells me the cheap ones do just as good as the expensive units?

I'd slap the plastic one's on and see if they make any difference....

The plastic one's will make a whistle noise where as the proper shu roo units cannot be heard by human ears as they omit a very high pitched frequency.

Sorry, those things give me head aches, I swear they should bring in a law where you should be have to have those things turned off while driving around town.

I agree...

Problem with the small plastic one's is there is no on or off switch.

They rely on the movement of air...

Do they only work properly at certain speeds, such as 100kmh or highway speeds?

Ya reckon it would make a difference to how it works going 60 to when its going 100?

here is a story from a mate of mine...

he was a mechanic at a land rover dealer. there was a bloke that lived near the victorian border who used to come up to canberra just to get his car serviced. he used all sorts of roo deterant devices... shu roos, whistles (plastic and metal) and anything else on the market. one particular time he was coming up to canberra and hit what appered to be a whole mob of kangaroos. the car was nearly a write off.

just goes to show that sometimes they dont work.. :p
