Yeah the Colt 1911 and all the variants are timeless imo, there's a reason why the design has been basically unchanged for 100 years. It's a must have for any pistol collection.

I'm about to do the firearm safety course, I'm just wondering if I need to know anything prior to going to it, or do they go through everything there? The bloke at the police station wasn't much help and the letter I got didn't say anything either. I just don't want to turn up completely unprepared

Yeah metro cops are not much help (from my experience through my cousin), country cops up my way were real helpful.

Read that a few times, covers everything.
They go over everything in the course, 90% is common sense.

Relatively cheap pistol as well.
$6-800 and you've got a decent one.
I'd like a collectible one. But they fetch around the $5k mark.
