The strangest thing happened to me when i drove my car into the driveway of a private shopping centre. When i was coming in, the driveway scraped my chasis, hit my exhaust and did considerable damage to the cetre mufler on my sports exhaust (15 cm deep bend to the muffler). The rubbers holding the rear exhaust tip also broke off. There were two people sitting at the front of the car and one person at the rear. I am running LGP and had a full tank of gas and half a tank of peterol. Suspention is standard. Nothing in the boot. I was doing about 30km/h What should i do now. Should i complain :ranting: in as my vehicle is pretty much unmodefied. The exhaust is all chrome and cost 600 bucks to fit 6 months ago.
Well depends, does ur exhaust system hang lower than the body or as a standard system? There isn't really much u can do i guess it's just the way it was designed. It's like getting gutter scrapers should i complain to the council that the gutters are too high? How steep was the driveway? I mean 30 is a little quick i'd be doing 10 at least.
..... yeh its something you shouldve done str8 away aswell as taking fotos etc. i cracked my oil sump in a private shopping centre car park, they paid for the repairs and towing. but i hit something that wasnt meant to be there, tell em your gona contact local newspaper n **** if he doesnt wanna pay
The exhaust was custom made however was not lower than normal. The driveway literally hit the chasis and hit the parking brake cable whitch made a imbeded dent in the chasis. I am not worried about this thoough, just the exhaust. On the driveway there were bits of rubber and plastic that came off another car, So its odvious that other people have been having this same problem.
If the driveway has claimed other victims there should be deep gouges in the concrete and maybe oil stains . The owners of the carpark will say these should have been noticed by you before entering the driveway. They may counter your claim by charging you for the gouges in the concrete!!!. I'm no angel but I'd never enter any carpark at more than a fast walking pace because I know s**t happens. You could lodge a complaint but you would have to be very lucky to drag any cash out of them.
I think you may have a case if the shopping centre is new. If it has been there for 5 years, and they havent had a problem with it, they are just going to picture a hoon trying to make some $. You can make the complaint, but I wouldnt be holding off repairs waiting for them to pay.
Ok...i know with the TAC that you can only take things further if they've had a complaint and not done anything about the problem and then you've done something to your car on the problem area. I'm sure it'll apply to the shopping centre too. So unless they've had a complaint about it prior to your complaint then you've got a case on your hands...but how on earth will you know if they've had a complaint or not? You won't...and even if they did, they can simply deny it straight away and get off 'nick free' because others would ne none the wiser...So i think, unfortunately, it's one you're going to have to wear on the chin and just be a little more careful with in the future. Sorry mate. Cheers, Boojakz.
I don't really think you can do anything. Where did it happen? I have a lowered car, so the first thing i do is find my entry and exit from any carpark. Some like Maccas at salisbury, even standard height cars scrape when entering or exiting from Park Tce, so i always entre from the side street.
