Ok for some reason im realy wanting to buy some little driving lights to go on my VS that has a clubsport kit. ive included a pic showing where i would probably put them, unless i can find some the right size to go on the outer holes of the bar.

what do you guys think? will they look ok? would they be any better for night driving?

Yeah I did it once, they looked crap, so I pulled them off. If you want some more light, get some altezza headlights and some H4 ultrabrights

i guess it depends what you are going to use them for? if it is for a fog light effect i have put slim driving lights on my car as seen below and they look ok. they work wonders on the road as well.

im not a huge fan of them on cars that dont have em built into the bar, but for some reason i want them lol, and there is the practical use of them...

im trying to find a VS with clubsport bar on it to see what they look like, maybe ill look into some altezza headlights, do they make a big differance?

i have just purchased some near new (approx 6 months old) headlights for $80- and they made a huge difference, just using the standard globes at the moment but the improvement is huge!

i think the altezzas help in the looks department, for practicality change your globes, and you'll notice a huge difference.

    Fog lights

I dont think they would suit. Unless you could find them that small that they would fit in those little sections that would look cool!

if theyre fog lights yes but if its just for extra light put in bigger globes. dont go too big you can burn out the wiring.

If you can have a reason for needing driving lights GET THEM!!!
If you dont have a reason, dont get them.
Ill be putting them on my car no matter how **** they look, caus im sure if i hit a roo my cars gonna look **** to, but it will cost heaps to fix.
If you do mainly city/town driving dont bother. Driving lights are mainly used to widen your view (see whats on the side of the road) when driving in dark places. i.e Country driving. Cant remember the last time a roo came darting out of the bush across the road in the burnely tunnel lol.

Driving lights.....they were sort of necessary on cars 30+ years ago that came with yellowy sealed beams when on unmarked roads. But nowadays, standard headlights are very good. I find them just about too bright to use high bean on a standard country road with the light coming back from the roadside and lane reflectors.
If you do most of your driving on dirt/ unmarked roads and need to go at 120km/h+ then they'd probably come into the essential category. Otherwise, nice to have but overkill.
Dont know about the widen view bit above. There are different types, some just pencil beams(spotties) that let you see the koala in the tree thats at the end of the straight strip of road you are going along, some that have a wider spread. Dont know if you are really going to be able to do much about a roo that appears just off the roadside from 50m away at 100km/h, is the idea to scare them away with the light?

LOL, yeah gotta scare the roo's away
Nah If you have a wider view of the road and the sides of it, then you can see when they are their, and slow and take action, instead of just having the bastard dart across without knowing hes their. I agree theirs different types of lights, I just prosume her was talking about the little rectangular ones that most people put on their car, and their main purpose is to widen your view.

well i live in byron bay and the roads here are horrendous, we have pot holes you could park your car in, my main aim is to be able to see them comming, my lights are ok, but i want bloody bright lights, also a wider view wouldnt hurt cause there is wildlife in the area,

i have replaced my bulbs and it helped a bit and i adjusted my lights cause after 15 years they seem to have dropped a bit, id like to have them new bright white lights that new cars have and blind me even on low beems,

so i do have a reason for wanting them, i just dont want to make my car ugly if they are not gonna make a good differance. they are only 55w and my headlights are 55w so i cant see them making much differance at all.

you can bump the rating of your globes up to 100w but sometimes it may burn out wires etc if your relay isnt strong enough to run them properly. i have always run 100w globes in my headlights and foglights without an issue

Fog lights are only useful for the purpose of driving in "foggy" conditions they are always lower to the ground for one reason they cut through the less dense bottom of the fog cloud so your light/vision is increased.

You want more light right, well get blimin Spottys not fog lights.
Oh one other thing in most states it is illegal to drive in non foggy conditions with foggys on, we have all seen the look at me I`m cool with my foggs on
in december guy, so get spottys and get to know the difference of each light and the job it will preform for maximum effeciency.

Dont think so, fog can vary, it can sit 2m of the ground, 30cm or go all the way to the ground.

The idea is that the lamps are placed as far below the drivers eye line as possible so no light will be reflected back into their eyes, which is the basic problem with normal lamps, the road is well lit up, except the driver cant make it out due to the amount of light reflected back in their face.

I used to have fog lamps on one of my vehicles for alpine driving, found that they offered a very wide beam, which was good for being able to see the edge of the road(handy if there is a 200m drop to one side), but found that for forward vision they offered no real distance advantages.
Actually found it was better(by accident) to use the standard headlights on low beam and put on yellow tinted sunglasses.
