I have a 2004 VY series 2. When I unscrewed the nuts holding my transmission cooler hoses onto the radiator I found that a 19 mm spanner was really quite loose, but an 18 mm was too small to fit.
Surely they are not imperial ? I cannot see a comparable size slightly less than 19 mm in a conversion chart...

Plenty of imperial fittings on a Commodore. Engine is American after all. Even on the VE which was ground up developed here there are 2 or 3 imperial bolts I believe.

Its like there harmonica balancer bolt its the same, 47/64 is the size but we don't have that here in Australia, 3/4 is to big. I would use a shifter wrench if it fits in.

Hmmm....OK, so what type of Imperial do they use on GM vehicles in the States ?

The next size down is 23/32 which is equivalent to 18.26 MM...

Ummm... all of them?

Can you not just use a shifter to tighten these?

^^^ This is also correct. AN, JIC, NPC fittings etc.. are all imperial based AFIAK.

All you can really use is a fairly small shifter spanner , maybe 150 mm long that makes it easier to access the fitting . another idea is to carefully file an open end 18mm spanner to fit the fitting.

Or buy some shimming paper and build it up, I use coke can to remove the slack. A couple of wraps or just one might do the trick.
