I was saying it as a joke fellas. Dont worry. Im in 2 minds about blading- you've got nowhere to go when you fall, and your legs can just dissappear under you. Riding though, you;ve got lots of pointy bits that love eating you, especially your shins. I actually did skate for a while, and a few of my mates rode, and i got into riding. I can still ollie and drop in and stuff, boardslide and nail the occasional varial flip. woohoo. This post is going nowhere
yeah snowboarding is friggin awesome. i went on a snowbaording trip with my mates in new zealand last year. we went to the remarkables and coronet peak. it was the best fun ever. i havent been since then and i crave it so bad.
i used to sk8 in my younger days. Started in 93' but didnt get serious until 95. Quit some time around 99 when i got sick of all the little toys skating for all the wrong reasons coming up 2 us asking "how high can you ollie?", "do a kickflip"...and soon moved on to other things. Though these people(toys) are everywhere still gots to put up with em in the social circles i run in nowdays. :ranting: :ranting: :ranting: :ranting: And people just move on, too old for that sh1t now, and im over it... no interest in sk8ing any more.
Did you do any of teh cool stuff in queenstown? Theres so much to do there, its amazing. Apparently its the' adventure capital of teh world' i went with with school in 2004. Snowboarding is awesome, and it was even better with a whole pile of my mates. Only got to go to cardrona though. Going back in july, can wait for it! Wish there wsa snow here
All extreme ports are better than normal sports...skateboarding appealled to me more because the board isn't attached to the feet, and takes some pretty fancy footwork to get it flipping and looking awesome...Love to give snowboarding a go (since i was like 8), it just doesn't snow newhere around here...probably gonna give it a go in july if its snowing in the blue mountains...Ive always had a things for flips n'**** (just doing them out of trees and that atm, used to have a tramp but it got eaten at parties ), and mixing that with speed (snowboard) would give me quite an adrenelin, probably as good as sky diving. I'll probably break my neck :bang:
semi, nah we didnt do any of that cool stuff. we used to get up at like 5:30am and head down to the slopes. by the time we got back in the evening we just wanted to hit the pillows. we wanted to pack as much boarding in as we could. i'd love to go back one of these days and get into the real extreme sports. i smell a justcommodores excursion :w00t:
I skated on and off since I was a kid, still got one of the single kick boards (The wide ones with all the plastic on em) and a banana board somewhere from when I was about 8!! I never got my learners till I was 18 cause I used to skate everywhere, and get picked up for work anyways!! Did a bit of blading, started doin ok at our bowl, but after too many hard landings I got really F**ked up shins, i couldnt walk for weeks Went back to my good ol board for a bit, showed my mates younger brother how to lose skin on a 5ft ramp, I gave up, and that little bastard started winning skate comps! he learned fast I miss skating even tho I always gave it up before I could do anything half decent, I sucked at everything I reckon lol
Snowboarding IS awesome! It doesn't take long to get your balance doing it either, so even if you're not keen on doing flips and stuff you can still take off down the slopes in fast comfort
for the people that said bmx doesnt take skill, id like to see u try doing tricks on a bike, its so much harder than what you think.. plus if you stack it you get hurt more, handle bars, pedals etc..
Well I was talking about learning to RIDE a bike is easier than learning to ride a skateboard. But I think people who do tricks and stuff are pretty skilled. There's this one particular guy who visits my skate park who does these HUGE 270s and 360s between trannies along with tweaking them out and stuff.
you'll always get the whole pile of little kids on bikes who ride down a bank then up a quarter. then do it again. dont usually see this so much with skaters. for all you skaters, do any of you get annoyed by us bmx blokes grinding rails, ledges etc?? Coz it might dent rails a bit?
The dents do get annoying, but it doesn't worry me so much as long as you and your bmx riding buddies just keep going round and round and round non-stop for 10 minutes not giving us skaters a chance to actually do anything. As long as the rails are waxed up properly the dents don't cause too much trouble, especially if it's good coping - the block at my skate park has been there for 8 years now and it's taken a battering from 8 years of skaters, BMXers and bladers. I can't recall there being any dents in its coping.
on the same note as bmxers going round and round, you always get the skaters in a bowl/half pipe for 10 min at a time
