So I've had a Resmed machine for a week now....... Best sleep I've had in years.
Who else uses a machine? I keep getting over pressure issues. A guy at work told me they need to adjust the settings?

42 have read, nobody has said a word. I'm not going to advise on something I know nothing about other than to suggest you contact your GP or the people who supplied it for advice. Asking us idiots on the internet will get theories about overpressure and/or running too rich and have you stripping the thing down looking for jets or chokes to adjust. Don't do it!

Always good to hear someone's sleeping issues improving Shane. Please take the guy at work's advice and get in touch with "they" when you can.

How much did the machine cost you Shane? I've been considering seeing a sleep specialist myself, the missus can't do my snoring anymore. :p

Who else uses a machine?

Ive been using a resmed airsense 10 autoset for about 4yrs now. Which variant are you using? The over pressure could be caused by the machine being a straight cpap rather than apap? I think the straight cpap is the elite rather than autoset. This model won’t automatically adjust your pressures based on AHI events through the night, it will blow at a constant pressure regardless.

Do you have ramping set up? This allows for a more gradual increase in pressure while you get used to the machine. Once you are used to it, you can turn it off for a more immediate effect. Humidity is another crucial function as well (assuming you have the climateline hose?) i personally use the second highest humidity setting as I find I get terribly dry otherwise, but it’s a matter of trial and error for each individual user.

what mask are you using? I started off with nasal pillows and now use the full face F20, which sits under the nose and covers the mouth as well. Very good if you’re a mouth breather like me :)

It's the standard one that ramps up pressure. It's set from 6psi to 20psi the guy at work said they had to adjust his from 6 to 11.

I did turn the humidity up a little I'll try more as my mouth does go dry.

Yes I have the heated hose.

I have both masks I tried the nasal mask but one night my nose blocked up and it woke me up. So after that I switched to the full face mask and haven't had that issue.

If you need to adjust it yourself hold the circle button and one of the square ones (can’t remember which) and it’ll take you into the clinical menu where you can tweak some settings yourself..

Sounds fairly reasonable. How are you feeling since using one? I constantly wake in the middle of the night dry as a desert and just don't feel refreshed when I get up.

It's great it's a night and day difference.

I just spoke to my GP and he gave me a referral and the sleep doctor looked at my throat asked a few questions. He said I had sleep apneoa but I have to do the sleep test for the medicare rebate.
Then I did the test went back seen him again to go over the test results and I had server sleep apneoa. My oxygen levels were dropping to 65% at the peaks and my average was 75 to 80%.
That is what wakes you the lack of oxygen as your airways relax they get to thin.
When your body gets 90% oxygen levels it can actually heal your cells after a days activites so all your organs health improves you have less stress on the heart you'll loose weight. It's amazing what it can cure.
Oxygen is the most essntial thing your body needs then water as second.

Also I'm going to start taking resveratrol as it's an anti oxidant which helps your cells deal with excess oxidants caused by oxygen.

You can get anti oxidants from food but resveratrol is scientifically prooven to be good for your body so I'm taking it.
