how bad is the crack. When ever working with cracks in plastics you will never be able to get the crack to completely conceal unless you cut it deeper, thats right. Use a small cutting disk at low speed to made the small crack into a small V shaped crevasse the entire length of the crack, even a little longer. Use sand paper to smooth the area and make sure you dont burn the polymers with the cutting wheel.
Next use a workable amount of putty to fill the crevasse, do not smooth over the rest of the area in an attempt to blend it. Wait for it to completely dry. Use a sanding block and some fairly corse paper, maybe 300grit to smooth the area down, then work down to a 1000grit till its completely smooth and inline with the rest of the pumper. Best to prime it and sand it a few times before painting it. If priming and painting. DO NOT use a stencil, although eliminating over spray, it will leave a raised edge on the paint.

Not to keen on doing that, though cheers. Will most likely send it off to the panel beaters eventually
