hey was down at local holden wreckers today and there is this VS that was recently done up.....heaps (if not the whole car lol) of new parts etc and i noticed it had slotted brake disks all round (DBA brand i belive) i asked how much and they said $44 per disk.....i thought 44 wasn't bad......i only want front ones though....might look weired with slotted front but normal rears..dunno

now is this a good price? and is there any real benefits of slotted? or is normal ok? oh and the car has ABS would it matter haveing slotted with abs? the car that they are on now has abs but yeh lol it even has new wheel bearings on the front. This car looks like it wasn't even driven since it was done up as the brake disks are like brand new, no groves in em..clean...just some very light surface rust otherwise looks like they were off the shelf lol

btw the car had a rear ender so no wheels were harmed lol

the ones on my vs now are the original i think but have nothing wrong with them.

    cheers

thats a good price, $44 for slotted standard fronts, normal non slotted are around that price.

benefits of slotted: "cleans" the pads, lets heat n dust escape allowing improved grip to the rotors, reduces brake fade.

For $44 each Id pick them all up in one go. Not sure why you dont want the rears but at a price like that and if they are near perfect as you said to me its something I couldnt pass by.

If the rear is IRS of the wreck then the rear disks would be different.
If you put them on and they are IRS ones, the brake disk surface will prob foul on the brake anchor plate...(judging yours hasn't got IRS)

Check the thickness of them too they should be around 10.3/10.5mm, if they are in good nick. min 8.5mm
    Fronts 21.70/22.0mm, min 20mm.

yep mine is solid rear axel and so is the one at wreckers both mine and wreck has ABS (front hubs are like new)....it looks like car has recently been done up and taken on its first drive and BOOM rear ended....well thast what it looks liek though too many new parts on it....such a wast (as i have gotten other basically new parts from it)

anyway gotta go there tommorow for some otehr parts for me sisters VP and ill check teh disks properly (make sure not bent etc) it did have lowered suspension on it etc but was all removed. no wheels were hit as only damage was rear end smashed in....can be fixed and would be a bloody nice car but yeh this day and age not worth it

    cheers

Not a bad pickup for the price :) Just clean them up with kero and acetone first, and make sure you install them facing the right way ;)

lol yep....cleaned them up and they looked like new :)

fitted the front 2 before with the pads that were on them at the wreckers and i have to say that the car brakes kinda a little less then before but was starting to feel better (have to bed in)....but then again i had new bendex ultimate pads on there before (got cheap) but they were ****ing dusty ****ty things..evey day had tonns of dust on wheels..not to mention the wear on the rotors...not sure on the make of the pads on there now but yeh will have to put rears on (pads are bendex...new) and see how it goes. I could feel the slots in the rotors when braking, felt weired hahah

meh if im not happy with them i could always whack the originals back on and sell these one.........................BAHAHAHHA as if thats c=gonna happen :p

attatched is a pic of them after lightly sanding them
