2012 Ve series 2 holden commodore ute
Hey just a quick question. I have a 3.6L non supercharged V6 Ve commodore and the current belt on those cars is a Gates 6PK2555. I’m looking at dropping down to a 6PK2545 which is a 10mm / 1cm smaller belt. Does anyone know if that will increase or decrease power or affect the life span of the belt?

Cheers

The belt might wear faster?
No difference on power etc.
I’d be using the correct belt though.
On high revs, you might get some squealing.

Not overly familiar with the Alloytec but if it has a belt tensioner like earlier models I would be sticking with stock length. Adding extra tension to the tensioner is a bad idea as it places additional pressure on the water pump bearing.

If anything you're adding more wear to the belt, and you'd effectively reduce the power of the car due to the additional drag on the engine caused by the added tension.

The Alloytec has a belt tensioner, so there's no need to step down in belt size. Stick with the OEM size unless you're supercharged.
